Parcours BIJOUX à Paris 3-13 oct.

Ma talentueuse collègue Karin Herwegh (Pays Bas) et moi participons au prochain PARCOURS BIJOUX à Paris pendant le mois oct. - Triennal Parisien dédiés au bijou contemporain.
L'histoire derrière l'exposition ''RENCONTRE DANS UN MONDE MUMBO JUMBO'', qui fait partie de la programmation du @parcoursbijoux
Karin présentera ses pièces splendides sculptées à la main dans du bois et moi des pièces en grès et en métal. Ce sera une surprise et inspirante !

Notre exposition/projet a pour titre :
'Rencontre dans un Monde Mumbo Jumbo’
(English. 'We Found Each Other in a World of Mumbo Jumbo’)

Rencontre dans un Monde Mumbo Jumbo :
Ne sachant où se rencontrer en tant qu'artistes étrangères, Karin Herwegh et Cynthia Nge se sont finalement rencontrées à un carrefour dans un monde mécanisé, un monde de Mumbo Jumbo (c'est-à-dire une phrase, un langage ou un rituel provoquant, ou destiné à provoquer, la confusion ou l'égarement, un labyrinthe d'arguties juridiques). N'est-ce pas le monde dans lequel nous vivons ? Un système établi et légalisé de pièces fonctionnant ensemble comme une machine...
C'est autour de ce thème que Karin et Cynthia ont créé des pièces d'ornement corporel pour traduire la narration de ce royaume en utilisant son propre choix de matériaux terreux, le bois et la céramique, pour donc illustrer de sa propre voix l'histoire de cette réaction en chaîne hocus pocus que nous devrions porter avec nous en toute conscience.

We Found Each Other in a World of Mumbo Jumbo:
Not knowing where to meet as artist strangers nearly 400 kilometres apart, from Paris to Hoofdplaat, we finally met at a crossroads in a mechanised world, a world of Mumbo Jumbo - i.e. a phrase, a language or a ritual causing, or intended to cause, confusion or bewilderment, a maze of legal rigmarole. Isn’t that the world we live in? An established legalised system of parts working together like a machine... a mechanised piece of an engine with a naturally established process birthing voiceless individuals, automated behaviour, computerised mindset, industrialised production in disharmony with nature?  With this motive as Karin and Cynthia’s theme, they will create body adornment pieces to translate the narrative of this realm. Each individual artist will work closely using their own choice of earthy material, wood and ceramics, to demonstrate in their own voice the story of this hocus pocus chain reaction that we should carry with us consciously.

My partner in crime for the 2023 @parcoursbijoux is Karin Herwegh from the Netherlands. The gorgeous duck heads (from pic. 2) are now part of some of the necklace or necklaces that’ll be showing at the exhibition. We indeed met in this fictional world of Mumbo Jumbo…this project was inspired by a book I read in my early 30’s (20 years ago!). Titled ‘How Mumbo Jumbo Conquered the World’ 2004, by Francis Wheen. One of those books that changed or should I say opened my view on the world.
